Dashboard/Steering Hanger Beam Removal and Installation
SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations, 2-door, 4-door and the precautions and procedures before doing repairs or service.
From the A-pillar, disconnect the roof wire harness connectors (A).

Remove the harness clip (B).
3.
Disconnect the floor wire harness connectors (A), the engine compartment wire harness connectors (B), and the dashboard wire harness connectors (C).

Remove the bracket (A) from under the dashboard.
5.
Remove the bolts (A) from under the dashboard.
Center area
6.
With climate control: Disconnect the aspirator hose (A) from under the dashboard.
7.
Remove the rear heater joint duct B.
8.
Disconnect the SRS unit connector A, the floor wire harness connector (B), and A/C sub wire harness connector (C).
9.
Remove the harness clips (D).
10.
Remove the ground bolt (E).
11.
Remove the bolts (A) from under the dashboard.
Passenger's side
12.
From the A-pillar, disconnect the antenna lead connector (A).
13.
Remove the harness clip (B).
14.
Remove the harness clips (A).
15.
Disconnect the dashboard wire harness connectors (B).
16.
With stereo amplifier: Disconnect the stereo amplifier connectors (C).
17.
Loosen the special bolts (A) until they disengage from the threads on the hanger beam side brackets (B), and engage the inside threads of the collar bolts (C). The thread lock on the special bolts makes the special bolts and the collar bolts turn together.
18.
Continue to loosen the special bolts to turn the collar bolts into the fixed space adjusters (D) until the collar bolts engage the adjuster brackets. This creates a gap (E) between the collar bolts and the body.
19.
Remove the special bolts.
20.
Check that the collar bolts (A) are seated in the fixed space adjusters (B).
NOTE: If either collar bolt was not seated, replace the special bolts.
21.
Remove the bolts (A).
22.
Remove the dashboard/steering hanger beam (A).

Dashboard/Steering Hanger Beam - Install

Install the dashboard/steering hanger beam (A).
2.
Install the bolts (A).
Special bolt tightening on passenger's side

Install the special bolts (A).
NOTE:
Before reinstalling the dashboard, be sure the collar bolt (B) on the passenger's side can be screwed/unscrewed lightly by hand, and then screw them into the space adjuster (C) fully by hand. Do not tighten them with any tools.
Before reinstalling the dashboard, screw the special bolt into the collar bolts, and check that they turn together. If they do not turn together, replace the special bolts.
After setting the dashboard in the body, reinstall all of the mounting bolts but do not tighten them. First tighten the driver's side mounting bolts to the specified torque. Next, tighten the special bolts. As you tighten the bolts, the collar bolts screw out of the space adjuster until they contact the body. Continue tightening the special bolts to the specified torque.
Driver's side

Install the bolts (A) to under the dashboard.

Install the bracket (A) to under the dashboard.
6.
Connect the floor wire harness connectors (A), the engine compartment wire harness connectors (B), and the dashboard wire harness connectors (C).
7.
Connect the roof wire harness connectors (A) to the A-pillar.
8.
Install the harness clip (B).
Center area
9.
Install the bolts (A) to under the dashboard.
10.
Connect the SRS unit connector A, the floor wire harness connector (B), and A/C sub wire harness connector (C).
11.
Install the harness clips (D).
12.
Install the ground bolt (E).
13.
Install the rear heater joint duct B.
14.
With climate control: Connect the aspirator hose (A).

Install the harness clips (A).
16.
Connect the dashboard wire harness connectors (B).
17.
With stereo amplifier: Connect the stereo amplifier connectors (C).
18.
Connect the antenna lead connector (A) to the A-pillar.
