Combination Switch Body Assembly/Wire harness - Remove
1.
Disconnect the combination switch connectors (A).
2.
Remove the clip (B).
Without steering lock
With steering lock
3.
Disconnect cable reel connector A, cable reel connector B, and the steering angle sensor connector (C).
4.
With steering lock: Disconnect the electric steering lock connector (D).
5.
Remove the clips (E).
6.
Remove the combination switch body assembly (A) from the steering column shaft.

Steering Joint Cover - Remove
Remove the steering joint cover (A).
7.
Steering Joint - Disconnect
1.
Loosen the upper steering joint bolt (A).
2.
Remove the lower steering joint bolt (B).
3.
Disconnect the steering joint (C) by sliding the steering joint into the column shaft (D).
NOTE:
If the center guide (E) is in place and has not moved, leave it in place.
If the center guide has come off, discard it.
4.
Tighten the upper steering joint bolt to hold the column shaft.
8.
Steering Column - Remove
Remove the steering column (A).
NOTE: Do not release the lock lever until the steering column is installed. If the lock lever is released before installation, adjust the steering column after installation.

Loosely install the attaching nuts and bolts.
3.
Tighten the attaching nuts and bolts to the specified torque in the numbered sequence shown.

Steering Joint - Connect
1.
Set the rack in the straight ahead driving position.
2.
Loosen the upper steering joint bolt (A).
3.
Slip the lower end of the steering joint (B) onto the pinion shaft (C).
NOTE:
Pinion shaft with center guide: Install the steering joint by aligning the center guide (D).
Pinion shaft without center guide: Position the steering column by aligning the gap (E) within the angle.
4.
Align the bolt hole (A) on the steering joint with the groove (B) around the pinion shaft.
5.
Loosely install the lower steering joint bolt (C).
6.
Be sure that the joint bolt is securely in the groove in the pinion shaft.
7.
Pull on the steering joint to make sure that the steering joint is fully seated.
8.
Tighten the upper and lower steering joint bolts to the specified torque.
3.
Steering Joint Cover - Install
Install the steering joint cover (A).
4.
Combination Switch Body Assembly/Wire harness - Install
1.
Install the combination switch body assembly (A).
2.
Tighten three screws (B) in the numbered sequence shown.
Without steering lock
With steering lock

Install the clips (C).
4.
With steering lock: Connect the electric steering lock connector (D).
5.
Connect cable reel connector A, cable reel connector B, and the steering angle sensor connector (E).
Start the engine, allow it to idle, and turn the steering wheel from lock to lock several times.
Check that the EPS indicator does not come on.
Check the steering wheel spoke angle. If steering spoke angles to the right and left are not equal (steering wheel and rack are not centered), correct the engagement of the joint/pinion shaft splines.
