Front Passenger's Weight Sensor Removal and Installation

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations and the precautions and procedures before doing repairs or service.

NOTE:
2-door: The front passenger's weight sensor is part of the seat frame and must be replaced as an assembly.
4-door: The front passenger's weight sensor is part of the seat rail and must be replaced as an assembly.

6. Front Passenger's Seat Rail/Front Passenger's Weight Sensors - Remove

Disconnect the connectors (A).

2.
Remove the clips (B).






3.
Remove the bolts (A).

4.
Release the seat cushion springs (B) from the hooks (C), then remove the seat cushion frame (D).





5.
Remove the nuts (A), then remove the front passenger's seat rail/front passenger's weight sensors as an assembly (B).

Be sure to install the harness wires so they are not pinched or interfering with other parts.

3. Seat Operation - Confirm

Move the front seat and the seat-back through their full ranges of movement, making sure the harness are not pinched or interfering with other parts.

6. SRS Operation - Confirm

Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.

1. Front Passenger's Seat Rail/Front Passenger's Weight Sensors - Install

Install the front passenger's seat rail/front passenger's weight sensors as an assembly (A) to the seat frame as shown, and loosely tighten the new nuts (B).

NOTE: The bushings and collars can be identified by their color. Make sure to install the bushings and collars as shown.





2.
Tighten the nuts (A) to the specified torque.

NOTE: Tighten the nuts in the numbered sequence shown.





3.
Install the seat cushion frame (A), and install the seat cushion springs (B) to the hooks (C).

Connect the connectors (A).

Install the clips (B).

7. Seat Operation - Confirm

Move the front seat and the seat-back through their full ranges of movement, making sure the harness are not pinched or interfering with other parts.
