HVAC Unit Removal and Installation

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations and the precautions and procedures before doing repairs or service.


5. Plastic Cross Brace - Remove

Cut the plastic cross brace (A) in the glove box opening with diagonal cutters in the area shown, and discard it.

6. Blower Unit - Remove

Disconnect the connector (A).


2.
Remove the harness clip (B).

3.
With climate control: Remove the connector clip (C).

4.
With climate control: Disconnect the connectors (D).

5.
With climate control: Remove the harness clips (E).

6.
Remove the connector clip (F).





7.
Remove the blower unit (A).

9. A/C Lines, Heater Hose, and Heater Unit Mounting Nut - Remove

1.
Remove the clip (A) and the clamp (B).


2.
Disconnect the A/C lines (C).

3.
Disconnect the outlet heater hose (D) and the inlet heater hose (E).

NOTE:
Engine coolant will run out when the hoses are disconnected; drain it into a clean drip pan. Be sure not to let coolant spill on the electrical parts or the painted surfaces. If any coolant spills, rinse it off immediately.
Note the layout of the hoses.

4.
Remove the heater unit mounting nut (F).

NOTE: Take care not to damage or bend the fuel lines or the brake lines.

12. Heater Unit - Remove


1.
Disconnect the connector (A).

2.
Remove the drain hose (B).

3.
Remove the heater unit (C).

13. All Removed Parts - Install

1.
Install the parts in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:

Make sure that there is no air leakage.
Make sure that there is no refrigerant leakage.
