Engine Oil Pan Removal and Installation
1. Steering Joint - Disconnect


NOTE: Hold the steering wheel in the steering wheel holder tool.

2. A/C Compressor - Remove

Remove the A/C compressor without disconnecting the A/C hoses. Do not bend the A/C hoses excessively.

NOTE: Hang the A/C compressor with a wire tie.


3. Front Engine Mount Mounting Bolt - Remove

Disconnect the vacuum hose (A).

2.
Remove the front engine mount stop (B) and the front engine mount mounting bolt (C).

4. Engine Undercover - Remove


5. Engine Oil - Drain


6. Exhaust Pipe A or Under-Floor TWC/Exhaust Pipe A - Remove

Remove exhaust pipe A or under-floor TWC/exhaust pipe A:

7. Clutch Case Cover - Remove

Remove the clutch case cover (A) and the transmission mounting bolts (B).


8. Transmission - Support

Support the transmission with a transmission jack and a wood block under the transmission.

9. Lower Transmission Mount Mounting Bolt - Remove

Remove the lower transmission mount mounting bolts (A).

NOTE: Do not remove the bolt (B) from the lower transmission mount. If the bolt is removed, the lower transmission mount must be replaced as an assembly.


10. Transmission Jack - Remove

Remove the transmission jack and the wood block.

11. Front Subframe - Support

Lift and support under the front of the front subframe with a transmission jack.

12. Front Subframe Middle Mount Rubber Mounting Bolt - Loosen

Loosen the front subframe middle mount rubber mounting bolts (A) on both sides.


13. Front Subframe - Move

Rear side

Loosen the mounting bolts (A) from the front subframe (B) on rear side, so they are about 10 mm (0.39 in) from the mounting surface.





Front side

Remove the mounting bolts (A) from the front subframe (B) on front side.

3.
Lower the jack slowly until the front subframe has dropped about 90 mm (3.54 in).

14. Oil Pan - Remove

1.
Using a flat blade screwdriver, separate the oil pan from the lower block in the places shown.

Remove the oil pan.

1. Oil Pan - Install

Remove all of the old liquid gasket from the oil pan mating surfaces, the bolts, and the bolt holes.

2.
Clean and dry the oil pan mating surfaces.

3.
Apply liquid gasket, (P/N 08718-0003, 08718-0004 or 08718-0009) to the engine block mating surface of the oil pan, and to the inside edge of the threaded bolt holes. Install the component within 5 minutes of applying the liquid gasket.

NOTE:
Apply a 2.5 mm (0.098 in) diameter bead of liquid gasket along the broken line (A).
If too much time has passed after applying the liquid gasket, remove the old liquid gasket and residue, then reapply new liquid gasket.

Install the oil pan (A) with a new O-ring (B).

Tighten the bolts in three steps. In the final step, torque all bolts, in sequence, to 12 N·m (1.2 kgf·m, 9 lbf·ft). Wipe off the excess liquid gasket on the each side of crankshaft pulley and flywheel/drive plate.

NOTE:
Wait at least 30 minutes before filling the engine with oil.
Do not run the engine within 3 hours after installing the oil pan.

2. Front Subframe - Align


3. Transmission Jack - Remove

Remove the transmission jack from the front subframe.

4. Front Subframe Middle Mount Rubber Mounting Bolt - Tighten

Tighten the front subframe middle mount rubber mounting bolts (A) to the specified torque on both sides.


5. Lower Transmission Mount Mounting Bolt - Install

Install the new lower transmission mount mounting bolts.


6. Clutch Case Cover - Install

Install the clutch case cover (A) and the transmission mounting bolts (B).


7. Exhaust Pipe A or Under-Floor TWC/Exhaust Pipe A - Install

Install exhaust pipe A or under-floor TWC/exhaust pipe A:

8. Engine Undercover - Install


9. Front Engine Mount Mounting Bolt - Tighten


1.
Tighten the new front engine mount mounting bolt (A).

2.
Install the front engine mount stop (B) using new nuts (C).

3.
Connect the vacuum hose (D).

10. A/C Compressor - Install

Install the A/C compressor.


11. Engine Oil - Refill


12. Steering Joint - Connect


13. Wheel Alignment - Check


14. VSA Sensor Neutral Position - Memorize


15. Steering Angle Sensor Neutral Position - Clear


16. TPMS - Calibration
