Headliner Removal and Installation

NOTE: SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations and the precautions and procedures before doing repairs or service.


NOTE: Wait at least 3 minutes before starting work.

14. Roof Console - Remove


1.
Remove the roof console (A).

2.
With HFL microphone: Disconnect the connector (B).

15. Headliner - Remove


1.
Remove the harness clip (A).

2.
With moonroof: Disconnect the connector (B).

Remove the harness clips (A) at the A-pillar.

4.
Disconnect the connector(s) (B) at the A-pillar.






5.
Remove the harness clips (A) at the right C-pillar.

6.
Disconnect the connector (B) at the right C-pillar.





7.
Fold the rear seat-back down.





8.
With the help of an assistant, lower the headliner (A).

9.
With the help of an assistant, remove the headliner (A) through the right front door/tailgate opening.

NOTE: Do not bend the headliner. Bending the headliner will crease and damage it.

If necessary, remove the cushion tapes (A).

16. Roof Pad - Remove (4-door)


17. Headliner - Check

1.
If the side curtain airbag has deployed, replace the headliner, along with the other parts listed for side curtain airbag deployment.

2.
To prevent the side curtain airbags from deploying improperly and possibly causing injury, inspect the headliner and all removed trim. Replace any pieces with the following damage:

Any creases or tears in the headliner (A).
Any damages around the grab handle holes (B) or the sunvisor holes (C) in the headliner.
With moonroof: Any fasteners (D), the clip bases (E), and the magnet (F) (4-door) which have come off the headliner.

18. All Removed Parts - Install

1.
Install the parts in the reverse order of removal, checking and adjusting the headliner/pillar trim overlap.
