1. Hood - Wide Open

1.
Open the hood, and secure it with the hood support rod (A) in the wide-open position (B).

6. Intake Air Duct - Remove


7. Under-Hood Fuse/Relay Box - Remove


8. Battery Cable and Starter Cable - Remove


9. Harness Clamp - Remove

1.
Remove the harness clamps (A).

10. Harness Holder - Remove

1.
Remove the harness clamps (A) and the harness holder (B).

11. PCM with Bracket - Remove


1.
Remove the PCM (A) with the bracket (B).

2.
Disconnect the connectors (C).

12. Connector - Disconnect

1.
Disconnect the connectors (A).

13. Fuel Feed Hose - Disconnect



14. EVAP Canister Purge Hose and Brake Booster Vacuum Hose - Disconnect


1.
Remove the EVAP canister purge hose (A) from the clamp (B).

2.
Disconnect the EVAP canister purge hose and the brake booster vacuum hose (C).


NOTE: Hold the steering wheel in the steering wheel holder tool.

16. Radiator Cap - Remove


22. Transmission Fluid - Drain

1.
Drain the transmission fluid:


23. Exhaust Pipe A or Under-Floor TWC/Exhaust Pipe A - Remove

1.
Remove exhaust pipe A or under-floor TWC/exhaust pipe A:



NOTE: Be careful not to damage the ball joint boot when installing the remover.

29. Vehicle - Lift

1.
Lower the vehicle.

31. Heater Hose - Disconnect


34. A/C Compressor - Remove


1.
Disconnect the connector (A).

2.
Remove the A/C compressor without disconnecting the A/C hoses. Do not bend the A/C hoses excessively.

NOTE: Hang the A/C compressor with a wire tie.

37. High Pressure Fuel Pump Cover - Remove


38. Fuel Bracket - Remove


1.
Remove the harness clamps (A).

2.
Disconnect the connectors (B).





3.
Remove the harness clamps (A) and the harness holder (B).





4.
Remove the fuel bracket.

39. Harness Holder - Remove (CVT)


40. EVAP Canister Purge Valve - Remove


1.
Disconnect the connector (A).

2.
Remove the EVAP canister purge valve (B).

41. First Universal Lifting Eyelet - Install

1.
Install the first universal lifting eyelet with a spacer (A).

42. Engine - Support

1.
Lift and support the engine/transmission with a jack and a wood block under the engine/transmission.

43. Rear Engine Mount Mounting Bolt - Remove

44. Front Engine Mount Stop and Front Engine Mount Mounting Bolt - Remove


1.
Disconnect the vacuum hose (A).

2.
Remove the front engine mount stop (B) and the front engine mount mounting bolt (C).

45. Engine Support Hanger - Install


1.
Remove the front damper caps.

2.
Install the engine support hanger (AAR-T1256) onto the vehicle as shown.

3.
Attach the hook to the slotted hole in the first universal lifting eyelet.

4.
Tighten the wing nut (A) by hand, and lift and support the engine/transmission.

NOTE:
Be careful when working around the windshield.
Be careful not to damage the hood opener cable when installing the engine support hanger at the front bulkhead.

46. Vehicle - Lift

1.
Raise the vehicle.

48. Front Subframe Middle Mount Rubber Mounting Bolt - Loosen


49. Lower Transmission Mount Mounting Bolt - Remove

NOTE: Do not remove the bolt (A) from the lower transmission mount. If the bolt is removed, the lower transmission mount must be replaced as an assembly.


50. Subframe Adapter - Attach


1.
Attach the subframe adapter (VSB02C000016) to the front subframe by looping the belt (A) over the front of the front subframe (B), then secure the belt with its stop (C).

2.
Raise the transmission jack and line up the slots in the subframe adapter arms with the bolt holes on the jack base, then securely attach them with four bolts.

52. Vehicle - Lift

1.
Lower the vehicle.

53. Second Universal Lifting Eyelet - Install


54. Chain Hoist - Install


1.
Attach a chain hoist (A) to the second universal lifting eyelet (B) and the transmission hanger (C), then lift the engine/transmission until it is securely supported by the chain hoist.

2.
Remove the engine support hanger.

55. Side Engine Mount Bracket Mounting Bolt - Remove


56. Upper Transmission Mount Bracket Mounting Bolt - Remove

NOTE: Do not remove the bolt (A) from the upper transmission mount. If the bolt is removed, the upper transmission mount must be replaced as an assembly.


57. Engine - Remove

1.
Check that the engine/transmission is completely free of the vacuum hoses, the fuel hoses, the coolant hoses, and the electrical wiring.

2.
Slowly lower the engine/transmission about 150 mm (5.91 in). Check once again that all the hoses and the electrical wiring are disconnected and free from the engine/transmission, then lower it all the way and support it.

3.
Remove the chain hoist from the engine/transmission.

4.
Raise the vehicle, and remove the engine/transmission from under the vehicle.

1. Engine Bracket - Install

1.
Install the engine mount brackets, then tighten their bolts to the specified torque.

2. First Universal Lifting Eyelet - Install


3. Engine - Install

1.
Attach the chain hoist (A) to the first universal lifting eyelet (B) and the transmission hanger (C), then lift the engine/transmission until it is securely supported by the chain hoist.

4. Upper Transmission Mount Bracket Mounting Bolt - Loosely Install

5. Side Engine Mount Bracket Mounting Bolt - Loosely Install and Loosen


1.
Loosely install the new side engine mount bracket mounting bolts (A).

2.
Loosen the side engine mount bracket mounting bolt (B).

6. Second Universal Lifting Eyelet - Install

1.
Install the second universal lifting eyelet with a spacer (A).

7. Engine Support Hanger - Install


1.
Install the engine support hanger (AAR-T1256) onto the vehicle as shown.

2.
Attach the hook to the slotted hole in the second universal lifting eyelet.

3.
Tighten the wing nut (A) by hand, and lift and support the engine/transmission.

NOTE:
Be careful when working around the windshield.
Be careful not to damage the hood opener cable when installing the engine support hanger at the front bulkhead.

8. Chain Hoist and First Universal Lifting Eyelet - Remove


9. Vehicle - Lift

1.
Raise the vehicle.

10. Front Subframe - Support


1.
Attach the subframe adapter to the front subframe by looping the belt (A) over the front of the front subframe, then secure the belt with its stop (B), and tighten the wing nut (C).

2.
Raise a transmission jack and line up the slots in the subframe adapter arms with the bolt holes on the transmission jack base, then securely attach them with four bolts.

12. Front Subframe Middle Mount Rubber Mounting Bolt - Tighten


14. Vehicle - Lift

1.
Lower the vehicle.

15. Engine - Support

1.
Lift and support the engine/transmission with a jack and a wood block under the engine/transmission.

16. Engine Support Hanger and Second Universal Lifting Eyelet - Remove


17. Rear Engine Mount Mounting Bolt - Loosely Install

18. Jack and Wood Block - Remove


19. Front Engine Mount Stop and Front Engine Mount Mounting Bolt - Tighten


1.
Tighten the new front engine mount mounting bolt (A).

2.
Install the front engine mount stop (B) using new nuts (C).

3.
Connect the vacuum hose (D).

20. Rear Engine Mount Mounting Bolt - Tighten

21. Lower Transmission Mount Mounting Bolt - Install


1.
Loosely install the new lower transmission mount bracket mounting bolts (A).

2.
Loosen the lower transmission mount mounting nut (B).





3.
Tighten the lower transmission bracket mounting bolts and the lower transmission mounting nuts in the numbered sequence shown.

22. Side Engine Mount Bracket Mounting Bolt - Tighten

1.
Tighten the side engine mount bracket mounting bolts in the numbered sequence shown.

23. Upper Transmission Mount Bracket Mounting Bolt - Tighten

24. EVAP Canister Purge Valve - Install


1.
Install the EVAP canister purge valve (A).

2.
Connect the connector (B).

25. Harness Holder - Install (CVT)


26. Fuel Bracket - Install

1.
Install the fuel bracket.





2.
Install the harness holder (A) and the harness clamps (B).






3.
Connect the connectors (A).

4.
Install the harness clamps (B).

27. High Pressure Fuel Pump Cover - Install


30. A/C Compressor - Install


1.
Install the A/C compressor.

2.
Connect the connector (A).

33. Heater Hose - Connect


35. Vehicle - Lift

1.
Raise the vehicle.

41. Exhaust Pipe A or Under-Floor TWC/Exhaust Pipe A - Install

Install exhaust pipe A or under-floor TWC/exhaust pipe A:


44. Vehicle - Lift

1.
Lower the vehicle.

46. EVAP Canister Purge Hose and Brake Booster Vacuum Hose - Connect


1.
Connect the EVAP canister purge hose (A) and the brake booster vacuum hose (B).

2.
Install the EVAP canister purge hose to the clamp (C).

47. Fuel Feed Hose - Connect



48. Connector - Connect

1.
Connect the connectors (A).

49. PCM with Bracket - Install


1.
Connect the connectors (A).

2.
Install the PCM (B) with the bracket (C).

50. Harness Holder - Install

1.
Install the harness clamps (A) and the harness holder (B).

51. Harness Clamp - Install

1.
Install the harness clamps (A).

52. Battery Cable and Starter Cable - Install


53. Under-Hood Fuse/Relay Box - Install


54. Intake Air Duct - Install


58. Fuel Leak (Low Pressure) - Check

1.
Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, but do not operate the starter. After the fuel pump runs for about 2 seconds, the fuel rail will be pressurized. Repeat this two or three times, then check for fuel leakage.

60. Transmission Gear - Check

1.
M/T: Check that the transmission shifts into all gears smoothly.

2.
CVT: Move the shift lever to each shift position, and verify that the A/T gear position indicator follows the transmission range switch.

61. Engine Oil - Refill


62. Transmission Fluid - Refill

1.
Refill the transmission fluid.
