NOTE:
Use fender covers to avoid damaging painted surfaces.
To avoid damaging the wiring and terminals, unplug the wiring connectors carefully while holding the connector portion.
Mark all wiring and hoses to avoid misconnection. Also, be sure that they do not contact other wiring or hoses, or interfere with other parts.

1. Vehicle - Lift


2. Hood - Wide Open

1.
Open the hood, and secure it with the hood support rod (A) in the wide-open position (B).

7. Positive Cable (12 Volt Battery Terminal Fuse Box) - Disconnect


10. Air Intake Duct - Remove


12. Connector (Engine Wire Harness) - Disconnect


1.
Disconnect the connectors (A).

2.
Remove the harness clamps (B).

13. EVAP Canister Purge Hose - Disconnect

1.
Disconnect the EVAP canister purge hose (A).

14. Fuel Feed Hose - Disconnect


1.
Remove the bracket (A).

2.
Remove the quick-connect fitting cover (B).



NOTE: Hold the steering wheel in the steering wheel holder tool.

16. Radiator Cap - Remove


17. Vehicle - Lift

1.
Raise the vehicle on the lift.

22. Transmission Fluid - Drain

1.
Drain the transmission fluid:


28. Vehicle - Lift

1.
Lower the vehicle.


NOTE: Without disconnecting the clutch line.

32. Radiator Upper Hose - Disconnect


33. Fuel Joint Pipe Bracket - Remove


34. First Universal Lifting Eyelet - Install


35. Heater Hose - Disconnect

1.
Disconnect the heater hoses (A).

NOTE: The hose band clip (B) are no need to install when connecting the heater hose.

36. Engine Support Hanger - Install

1.
Install the engine support hanger onto the vehicle as shown, and attach the hook (A) to the slotted hole in the first universal lifting eyelet (B). Tighten the wing nut (C) by hand, and lift and support the engine/transmission.

NOTE:
Be careful when working around the windshield.
Be careful not to damage the hood opener cable when installing the engine support hanger at the front bulkhead.

37. Vehicle - Lift

1.
Raise the vehicle.

39. A/C Compressor - Remove


1.
Disconnect the connector (A).

2.
Remove the A/C compressor (B) without disconnecting the A/C hoses. Do not bend the A/C hoses excessively.

NOTE: Hang the A/C compressor with a wire tie.

40. Lower Radiator Hose - Disconnect


1.
Disconnect the lower radiator hose (A).

2.
CVT: Disconnect the water hose (B).

41. Torque Rod - Remove

42. Front Subframe - Support

1.
Support the front subframe with a transmission jack.

43. Front Subframe - Remove

1.
Remove the front subframe bracket bolts on both sides.





2.
Remove the front subframe.

44. Vehicle - Lift

1.
Lower the vehicle.

46. Second Universal Lifting Eyelet - Install


47. Chain Hoist - Install

1.
Attach a chain hoist (A) to the second universal lifting eyelet (B) and the transmission hanger (C), then lift the engine/transmission until it is securely supported by the chain hoist.

48. Engine Support Hanger and First Universal Lifting Eyelet - Remove


49. Transmission Mount Bracket Mounting Bolt and Nut - Remove

50. Engine - Remove

1.
Check that the engine/transmission is completely free of the vacuum hoses, the fuel hoses, the coolant hoses, and the electrical wiring.

2.
Slowly lower the engine/transmission about 150 mm (5.91 in). Check once again that all the hoses and the electrical wiring are disconnected and free from the engine/transmission, then lower it all the way and support it.

3.
Remove the chain hoist from the engine/transmission.

4.
Raise the vehicle, and remove the engine/transmission from under the vehicle.

1. Engine - Install

1.
Install the torque rod bracket, then tighten their bolts to the specified torque.

2. First Universal Lifting Eyelet - Install


3. Chain Hoist - Install

1.
Attach the chain hoist (A) to the first universal lifting eyelet (B) and the transmission hanger (C), then lift the engine/transmission until it is securely supported by the chain hoist.

2.
Position the engine/transmission under the vehicle. Be sure that they are properly aligned. Carefully lower the vehicle until the engine/transmission are properly positioned in the engine compartment. Make sure the vehicle is not resting on any part of the engine/transmission. Support the engine/transmission with a chain hoist and carefully raise the engine/transmission into place.

NOTE: Reinstall the mounting bolts and support nuts in the sequence given in the following steps. Failure to follow this sequence may cause excessive noise and vibration, and reduce engine mount life.

4. Transmission Mount Bracket Mounting Bolt and Nut - Loosely Install

5. Second Universal Lifting Eyelet - Install


6. Engine Support Hanger - Install

1.
Install the engine support hanger onto the vehicle as shown, and attach the hook (A) to the slotted hole in the second universal lifting eyelet (B). Tighten the wing nut (C) by hand, and lift and support the engine/transmission.

NOTE:
Be careful when working around the windshield.
Be careful not to damage the hood opener cable when installing the engine support hanger at the front bulkhead.

7. Engine - Support

1.
Lift and support the engine with a jack and a wood block under the oil pan.

8. Chain Hoist, Engine Hanger Stay, and First Sub Hanger Stay - Remove


9. Side Engine Mount - Install


1.
Install the side engine mount (A) using new bolts (B).

2.
Loosely install the new side engine mount bracket mounting nuts (C).

3.
Install the ground cable (D).

10. Engine Support Hanger, Second Universal Lifting Eyelet - Remove

1.
Remove the engine support hanger and the second universal lifting eyelet.

2.
Remove the jack and the wood block.

11. Vehicle - Lift

1.
Raise the vehicle.

12. Front Subframe - Support

1.
Support the front subframe with a transmission jack under the front subframe.

14. Torque Rod - Loosely Install

CVT
1.
Install the torque rod, then loosely install the new torque rod mounting bolts.

15. Vehicle - Lift

1.
Lower the vehicle.

16. Side Engine Mount Bracket Mounting Nut - Tighten


17. Transmission Mount Bracket Mounting Bolt and Nut - Tighten

18. Vehicle - Lift

1.
Raise the vehicle.

19. Torque Rod Mounting Bolt - Tighten

1.
Tighten the torque rod mounting bolts in the numbered sequence shown.

20. Lower Radiator Hose - Connect


1.
Connect the lower radiator hose (A).

2.
CVT: Connect the water hose (B).

21. A/C Compressor - Install


1.
Install the A/C compressor (A).

2.
Connect the connector (B).

23. Vehicle - Lift

1.
Lower the vehicle.

24. Fuel Joint Pipe Bracket - Install


25. Radiator Upper Hose - Connect


26. Heater Hose - Connect

1.
Connect the heater hoses (A).

30. Vehicle - Lift

1.
Raise the vehicle.

38. Vehicle - Lift

1.
Lower the vehicle.

40. Fuel Feed Hose - Connect


1.
Connect the fuel feed hose (A), then install the quickconnect fitting cover (B).

2.
Install the bracket (C).

41. EVAP Canister Purge Hose - Connect

1.
Connect the EVAP canister purge hose (A).

42. Connector (Engine Wire Harness) - Connect


1.
Connect the connectors (A).

2.
Install the harness clamps (B).

44. Air Intake Duct - Install



NOTE: Do not connect the 12 Volt battery negative terminal.

47. Positive Cable (12 Volt Battery Terminal Fuse Box) - Connect


51. Fuel Leak - Inspect

1.
Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, but do not operate the starter. After the fuel pump runs for about 2 seconds, the fuel rail will be pressurized. Repeat this two or three times, then check for fuel leakage.

52. Transmission Fluid - Refill

1.
Refill the transmission fluid:


55. Fluid Leak (Low Pressure) - Check

1.
Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, but do not operate the starter. After the fuel pump runs for about 2 seconds, the fuel rail will be pressurized. Repeat this two or three times, then check for fuel leakage.

57. Transmission Gear - Check

1.
M/T: Check that the transmission shifts into all gears smoothly.

2.
CVT: Move the shift lever to each gear, and verify that the A/T gear position indicator follows the transmission range switch.
