NOTE:
Use fender covers to avoid damaging painted surfaces.
To avoid damaging the wiring and terminals, unplug the wiring connectors carefully while holding the connector portion.
Mark all wiring and hoses to avoid misconnection. Also, be sure that they do not contact other wiring or hoses, or interfere with other parts.

1. Hood - Wide Open


1.
Remove the hood rear seal (A) as needed.

2.
Disconnect the support struts from both sides of the pivot ball (bolted to the hood). Secure the hood in a vertical position. Install the left side pivot ball into the lower threaded hole.

NOTE: Do not attempt to close the hood with the support strut in the vertical position, as it will damage the support strut and hood.

2. Front Tower Bar - Remove (If equipped)


3. Fuel Pressure - Relieve


4. Engine Cover - Remove


5. Battery - Remove


6. Splash Separator - Remove

Remove the splash separator.


7. Front Bumper Upper Air Duct - Remove


8. Air Cleaner - Remove


9. Battery Cable and Starter Cable - Remove

Remove the battery cable and the starter cable.


10. Engine Wire Harness Connector - Disconnect

Remove the harness clamp (A) and disconnect the engine wire harness connector (B).


11. PCM Connector - Disconnect

1.
Remove the PCM cover.






2.
Disconnect the PCM connectors (A).

3.
Remove the harness clamps (B).

12. EVAP Canister Purge Hose and Brake Booster Vacuum Hose - Disconnect


1.
Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose (A) and the EVAP canister purge hose (B).

2.
M/T: Disconnect the vacuum hose (C)

14. Steering Joint - Disconnect


NOTE: Hold the steering wheel using the steering wheel holder tool.

15. Change Wire - Remove (M/T)

Remove the change wire. Do not bend the change wire excessively.

16. Shift Cable - Remove (A/T)

Remove the shift cable. Do not bend the shift cable excessively.

17. Clutch Slave Cylinder - Remove (M/T)

Remove the clutch slave cylinder and the clutch line bracket mounting nut. Do not operate the clutch pedal once the slave cylinder has been removed.

18. Radiator Cap - Remove

Remove the radiator cap.

19. Vehicle - Lift


20. Front Wheel - Remove


21. Engine Undercover - Remove


22. Engine Coolant - Drain


23. Engine Oil - Drain


24. Transmission Fluid - Drain

Drain the transmission fluid:

25. Secondary HO2S Connector - Disconnect


26. Under-Floor TWC/Exhaust Pipe A - Remove


27. Knuckle Ball Joint - Disconnect


28. Lower Stabilizer Link Ball Joint - Disconnect


29. Tie-Rod End Ball Joint - Disconnect


30. Driveshaft - Remove


31. Vehicle - Lift

Lower the vehicle.

32. Heater Hose - Disconnect

Disconnect the heater hoses (A).


33. Radiator Assembly - Remove


34. Alternator - Remove


35. A/C Compressor - Remove

Remove the A/C compressor without disconnecting the A/C hoses. Do not bend the A/C hoses excessively.

NOTE: Hang the A/C compressor with a wire tie.


36. Connector Bracket - Remove

Remove the connector bracket (A) from the front cylinder head; use the bracket bolt hole (B) to attach the engine hanger balance bar front arm.


37. Harness Bracket - Remove

Remove the harness bracket (A) from the rear cylinder head; use the bracket bolt hole (B) to attach the 2008 V6 attachment arm.


38. Engine Support Hanger - Install


1.
Remove the front damper caps.

2.
Install the engine hanger balance bar (VSB02C000019). Attach the front arm (A) to the front cylinder head with a 10 mm (0.39 in) spacer (B) and a 10 x 1.25 mm bolt (C). Remove the rear arm from the engine hanger balance bar, then install the 2008 V6 attachment arm (SIL02C000033). Attach the 2008 V6 attachment arm to the rear cylinder head with a 10 mm (0.39 in) spacer (D) and an 8 x 1.25 mm bolt (E).

3.
Install the engine support hanger (AAR-T1256) onto the vehicle as shown, and attach the hook to the slotted hole in the engine hanger balance bar. Tighten the wing nut (F) by hand, and lift and support the engine/transmission.

NOTE:
Be careful when working around the windshield.
AAR-T1256 two sets required for stacking additional cross section bars.
Be careful not to damage the hood opener cable when installing the engine support hanger at the front bulkhead.

39. Front Engine Mount Stop and Front Engine Mount Mounting Bolt - Remove

2.
Remove the front engine mount stop (A).

3.
Remove the front engine mount mounting bolt (B).

4.
M/T: Disconnect the vacuum hose (C).

5.
A/T: Disconnect the front engine mount actuator subharness connector (D).

40. Rear Engine Mount Stop and Rear Engine Mount Mounting Bolt - Remove

1.
A/T: Remove the rear engine mount stop (A).

2.
Remove the rear engine mount mounting bolt(s) (B).

41. Vehicle - Lift

Raise the vehicle.

42. EPS Connector - Disconnect


NOTE: Wrap the connectors with vinyl tape to avoid contamination from grease or water.

43. Ground Cable - Remove (A/T)

Remove the ground cable.


44. Lower Transmission Mount Bracket Mounting Bolt - Remove

A/T
Remove the lower transmission mount bracket mounting bolts.


45. Front Subframe Middle Mount Rubber Mounting Bolt - Loosen

Loosen the front subframe middle mount rubber mounting bolts (A) on both sides


46. Subframe Adapter - Attach


1.
Attach the subframe adapter (VSB02C000016) to the front subframe by looping the belt (A) over the front of the front subframe, then secure the belt with its stop (B), and tighten the wing nut (C).

2.
Raise a transmission jack and line up the slots in the subframe adapter arms with the bolt holes on the transmission jack base, then securely attach them with four bolts.

47. Front Subframe - Remove


48. Vehicle - Lift

Lower the vehicle.

49. Chain Hoist - Attach


1.
Attach a chain hoist (A) to the engine hanger (B) and the transmission hanger (C), then lift the engine/transmission until it's securely supported by the chain hoist.

2.
Remove the engine support hanger, the engine hanger balance bar, and the 2008 V6 attachment arm.

50. Upper Half of Side Engine Mount Bracket Mounting Bolt - Remove

Remove the upper half of the side engine mount bracket mounting bolts.


51. Upper Transmission Mount Bracket Mounting Bolt - Remove

A/T
Remove the upper transmission mount bracket mounting bolts.

NOTE: Do not remove the TORX bolt (A) from the upper transmission mount. If the TORX bolt is removed, the upper transmission mount must be replaced as an assembly.


52. Engine - Remove

1.
Check that the engine/transmission is completely free of the vacuum hoses, the fuel hoses, the coolant hoses, and the electrical wiring.

2.
Slowly lower the engine/transmission about 150 mm (5.91 in). Check once again that all the hoses and the electrical wiring are disconnected and free from the engine/transmission, then lower it all the way and support it.

3.
Remove the chain hoist from the engine/transmission.

4.
Raise the vehicle, and remove the engine/transmission from under the vehicle.

1. Engine Mount Bracket - Install

Install the engine mount brackets and the accessory brackets, then tighten their bolts to the specified torque.


2. Engine - Install

Position the engine/transmission under the vehicle. Be sure that they are properly aligned. Carefully lower the vehicle until the engine/transmission are properly positioned in the engine compartment. Make sure the vehicle is not resting on any part of the engine/transmission. Support the engine/transmission with a chain hoist (A) and carefully raise the engine/transmission into place.

NOTE: Reinstall the mounting bolts/support nuts in the sequence given in the following steps. Failure to follow this sequence may cause excessive noise and vibration, and reduce engine mount life.


3. Upper Half of Side Engine Mount Bracket Mounting Bolt - Install

Install the new mounting bolts into the upper half of the side engine mount bracket. Tighten the bolts to the specified torque.


4. Upper Transmission Mount Bracket Mounting Bolt - Install

A/T

1.
M/T: Loosely tighten the new mounting bolts into the upper transmission mount bracket.

2.
A/T: Install the new mounting bolts into the upper transmission mount bracket, then loosely tighten the bolts in the numbered sequence shown.

5. Engine Support Hanger - Install


1.
Install the engine hanger balance bar (VSB02C000019). Attach the front arm (A) to the front cylinder head with a 10 mm (0.39 in) spacer (B) and a 10 x 1.25 mm bolt (C). Remove the rear arm from the engine hanger balance bar, then install the 2008 V6 attachment arm (SIL02C000033). Attach the 2008 V6 attachment arm to the rear cylinder head with a 10 mm (0.39 in) spacer (D) and an 8 x 1.25 mm bolt (E).

2.
Install the engine support hanger (AAR-T1256) onto the vehicle as shown, and attach the hook to the slotted hole in the engine hanger balance bar. Tighten the wing nut (F) by hand, and lift and support the engine/transmission.

NOTE:
Be careful when working around the windshield.
AAR-T1256 two sets required for stacking adiditional cross section bars.
Be careful not to damage the hood opener cable when installing the engine support hanger at the front bulkhead.

6. Chain Hoist - Remove

Remove the chain hoist.

7. Vehicle - Lift

Raise the vehicle.

8. Subframe Adapter - Attach


1.
Attach the subframe adapter (VSB02C000016) to the front subframe by looping the belt (A) over the front of the front subframe, then secure the belt with its stop (B), and tighten the wing nut (C).

2.
Raise a transmission jack and line up the slots in the subframe adapter arms with the bolt holes on the transmission jack base, then securely attach them with four bolts.

10. Front Subframe Middle Mount Rubber Mounting Bolt - Tighten

Tighten the front subframe middle mount rubber mounting bolts.


11. Lower Transmission Mount Bracket Mounting Bolt - Tighten

A/T
Tighten the new lower transmission mount bracket mounting bolts (A).


12. Ground Cable - Install (A/T)

Install the ground cable.


13. EPS Connector - Connect


14. Vehicle - Lift

Lower the vehicle.

15. Engine - Support

Lift and support the engine/transmission with a jack and a wood block under the engine/transmission.

16. Engine Support Hanger, Engine Hanger Balance Bar, and 2008 V6 attachment arm - Remove

1.
Remove the engine support hanger, the engine hanger balance bar, and the 2008 V6 attachment arm.

2.
Install the front damper caps.

17. Rear Engine Mount Mounting Bolt - Loosely Install


1.
Loosely install the new rear engine mount mounting bolt (A).

2.
Tighten the new rear engine mount mounting bolts (B).

18. Jack and Wood Block - Remove

Remove the jack and the wood block.

19. Front Engine Mount Stop and Front Engine Mount Mounting Bolt - Install

M/T

A/T

1.
Tighten the new front engine mount mounting bolt (A).

2.
Install the front engine mount stop (B) using new nuts.

3.
M/T: Connect the vacuum hose (C).

4.
A/T: Connect the front engine mount actuator subharness connector (D).


20. Rear Engine Mount Stop and Rear Engine Mount Mounting Bolt - Tighten

M/T

A/T

1.
Tighten the new rear engine mount mounting bolt (A).

2.
A/T: Install the front engine mount stop (B) using new nuts.

21. Upper half of Side Engine Mount Bracket Mounting Bolt - Retighten

Loosen the mounting bolts for the upper half of the side engine mount bracket, then retighten them in the numbered sequence shown.


22. Upper Transmission Mount Bracket Mounting Bolt - Tighten

A/T

1.
M/T: Tighten the upper transmission mount bracket mounting bolts.

2.
A/T: Tighten the upper transmission mount bracket mounting bolts in the numbered sequence shown.

23. Connector Bracket - Install

Install the connector bracket (A) to the front cylinder head.


24. Harness Bracket - Install

Install the harness bracket (A) to the rear cylinder head.


25. A/C Compressor - Install

Install the A/C compressor.


26. Alternator - Install


27. Radiator Assembly - Install


28. Heater Hose - Connect

Connect the heater hoses (A).


29. Vehicle - Lift

Raise the vehicle.

30. Driveshaft - Install


31. Tie-Rod End Ball Joint - Connect


32. Lower Stabilizer Link Ball Joint - Connect


33. Knuckle Ball Joint - Connect


34. Secondary HO2S Connector - Connect

Lower the vehicle.

1.
Connect the brake booster vacuum hose (A) and the EVAP canister purge hose (B).

2.
M/T: Connect the vacuum hose (C).

42. Changr Wire - Install


43. Shift Cable - Install (A/T)


44. PCM Connector - Connect


1.
Connect the PCM connectors (A).

2.
Install the harness clamps (B).

45. PCM Cover - Install

Install the PCM cover.


46. Engine Wire Harness Connector - Connect

Connect the engine wire harness connector (A), and Install the harness clamp (B).


47. Battery Cable and Starter Cable - Install

Install the battery cable and the starter cable.


48. Air Cleaner - Install


49. Front Tower Bar - Install (If equipped)


50. Engine Cover - Install


51. Front Bumper Upper Air Duct - Install


52. Splash Separator - Install

Install the splash separator.


54. Fuel Leak - Inspect

Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, but do not operate the starter. After the fuel pump runs for about 2 seconds, the fuel rail will be pressurized. Repeat this two or three times, then check for fuel leakage.

55. Engine Oil - Refill


56. Transmission Fluid - Refill

Refill the transmission fluid:

57. Transmission Gear - Check

Check the transmission gears:
M/T: Check that the transmission shifts into all gears smoothly.
A/T: Move the shift lever to each gear, and verify that the A/T gear position indicator follows the transmission range switch.

59. Fluid Leak - Check

Check for fluid leaks.

60. PCM - Reset


62. Idle Speed - Inspect


63. Ignition Timing - Inspect


64. Hood Support Strut Normal Position - Return

Return the hood support struts to its normal position.

65. Wheel Alignment - Check


66. VSA Sensor Neutral Position - Memorize


67. Steering Angle Sensor Neutral Position - Clear


68. TPMS - Calibration
